Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do - but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here - we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

As Product Cost Team Leader (internally known as an Engineering Project Team Leader), you will lead cost projects and initiatives located at our prime product facilities in North America and Brazil. Your primary focus will be to mentor and lead the cost and cross-functional teams to achieve long-term End-to-End competitive cost structure goals. This involves collaborating with the global extended Paving team including business resources, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and supply chain to develop targets, identify projects to close gaps, and report out to leadership. In addition, you will lead the worldwide product cost target setting and cost Obeya processes for Cat Paving.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead the cost target setting process for the Paving product line produced at multiple facilities around the world.
  • Lead the Paving low-cost sourcing project at the Brooklyn Park facility, reporting to leadership the current state of our product costs, our line of sight to achieve targets, and the actions in-process to achieve our cost goals.
  • Lead a team of regional cost project leaders to achieve end-to-end competitive cost structure goals by setting project-level vision and objectives to close the gap to target.
What You Have (Basic Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business, coupled with extensive and progressive experience in product development, with a foundational understanding of product cost inputs, accounting methodologies, and tracking metrics.
  • Proven experience in project management, with a track record of leading cost projects and initiatives, particularly in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence through expertise, effectively guiding and mentoring teams and stakeholders to achieve long-term competitive cost structure goals without direct leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong skills in requirements analysis, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (including business resources, engineering, manufacturing, commercial, and supply chain) to develop targets, identify projects to close gaps, and report progress to leadership.
Top Candidates Will Have :
  • Master's degree in business or engineering.
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills; an ability to see the big picture; the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently with a diverse global team.
  • Experience with data analysis, manipulation, and relevant tools (Excel, PowerBi, Tableau, etc.).
Additional Info :
  • Caterpillar operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week of onsite, in office work.
  • Domestic relocation is available to those who qualify.
  • 15% international and domestic travel is expected.
  • ISE is not available.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available.
What You Will Get:

Our goal at Caterpillar is for you to have a rewarding career. Our teams are critical to the success of our customers who build a better world.

Here you earn more than just a salary because we value your performance. We offer a total rewards package that provides day one benefits [medical, dental, vision, RX, and 401(k)] along with the potential of an annual bonus.
