Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Execution Trader with a strong background in options and derivatives trading as well as proven technical and DevOps skills. In this hybrid role, you will not only execute trades and manage client/broker relationships but also be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our custom-built trade execution infrastructure. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge trading systems, directly influence our trading operations, and ensure system reliability in a fast-paced production environment.

Position Duties :

• Daily setup and shutdown of trading systems and business IT
• Communication with client and brokers
• General trading assistance to primary client
• Direct trade execution using online brokerages
• Trade execution via third party brokers
• Management of trading accounts and credentials
• Daily accounting in conjunction with brokers
• Record keeping, liaison with accounting and reporting of trading results
• Execute controls on transaction and settlement data to verify accuracy, completeness and adherence to internal risk controls
• Continuously monitor financial and operational risks
• Other business assistance as needed including redundant onsite IT support as part of wider group team

Example tasks and projects:

• Automation of processes
• Modeling of ETFs using their component drivers
• Modeling of stocks vs ETFs
• Participation in collaborative model development
• Undertaking back testing

Required Skills & Experience:

Trading Expertise:

• Extensive hands-on experience in options and derivatives trading.
• Strong understanding of risk management, margin requirements, and trade execution protocols.

Technical Proficiency:

• Solid programming experience with Python, including familiarity with libraries and frameworks such as NumPy, SciPy, FastAPI, and Pydantic.
• Experience working with data storage and messaging systems (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Understanding of microservice/client-server architectures.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg EMSX and interactive broker data subscriptions.

DevOps & Systems Administration:

• Intermediate sysadmin and networking skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain a live production environment.
• Experience with Linux system management (including systemd) and debugging multi-threaded/multi-process applications.

Communication & Collaboration:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with internal teams, clients, and brokers.
• Ability to work autonomously under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment.

Working Conditions :

• Houston office-based role, with daily duties at principal client’s location.
• Occasional out-of-hours work or travel may be required. 
• Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods to service client locations.
• Employment subject to background check and mutually acceptable non-disclosure agreement.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg financial terminal system, perhaps demonstrated through Bloomberg certification, would be a plus but is not required.
